An insurance agent and a client reviewing policy documents together at a desk

Independent insurance practice

Cover what you have built, without the fine-print fog.

Lucid Notch compares policies across several carriers, explains the trade-offs in ordinary language, and stays with you through renewals and claims.

Independent

Not tied to one carrier

We shop a panel of insurers, so the recommendation follows your situation instead of a single company's product list.

Plain language

You will know what you bought

Deductibles, exclusions and limits explained before you sign — including the parts that are easy to skim past.

Continuity

One point of contact

The same agent handles your quote, your renewal and the phone call you would rather not have to make.

Coverage

Policies for the ordinary risks of a full life.

Most households need two or three of these working together. We look at the whole picture before recommending any single policy.

Home & property

Structure, contents and liability for owners, with attention to how replacement cost is actually calculated.

Auto & motor

Single cars, second drivers and small household fleets, reviewed whenever your mileage or vehicles change.

Life & family

Term and permanent options sized to the obligations you would leave behind, not to a round number.

Small business

General liability, contents and professional cover for studios, trades, clinics and independent shops.

Renters

Contents and liability for tenants, including the belongings people forget to count until they need to list them.

Umbrella & liability

An extra layer above your home and auto limits for the unlikely claim that would otherwise reach your savings.

How it works

Three steps, and no pressure at any of them.

Nothing is bound until you say so. If your current policy is already the right one, we will tell you that too.

A real conversation

We start with what you own, who depends on you and what you would struggle to replace. Ten minutes of context saves a lot of guesswork later.

A side-by-side comparison

You receive options from more than one carrier, written out plainly, with the differences in limits and exclusions marked rather than buried.

A yearly re-check

Before each renewal we look again, because a renovation, a new driver or a quiet rate increase can all change the right answer.

Annual review

What changes between one renewal and the next.

Policies quietly drift out of step with real life. These are the things we check before your coverage rolls over.

  • Rebuild and replacement values against current costs
  • Renovations, new rooms, solar and outbuildings
  • Drivers added or removed from the household
  • Discounts and bundles you have become eligible for
  • Gaps between policies that nobody is covering

About

A small practice, on purpose.

Lucid Notch keeps a deliberately short client list so that every policy is written by someone who remembers the conversation behind it. No call centre queue, no handing your file to whoever is free.

The work is simple to describe and slow to do well: understand the household, read the wording carefully, and say plainly which risks a policy will not carry.

Questions

The things people ask before they call.

Does working with an agent cost more than buying direct?

No. An independent agent is paid by the carrier that ultimately writes your policy, so you are not charged a separate advisory fee for a quote or a review.

Can I switch before my current policy ends?

Usually yes. Most policies can be cancelled mid-term with the unused portion refunded. We time the new policy to start the moment the old one stops, so there is never a gap.

What does "independent" actually mean here?

It means we hold appointments with several carriers rather than one. If another insurer fits your situation better, we can move you without you starting over somewhere else.

What happens if I need to make a claim?

You contact us first. We confirm what your policy covers, help you gather what the adjuster will ask for, and stay in the thread until the claim is settled.

How do you handle my documents and details?

Your information is used only to prepare quotes and service your policies. It is shared with a carrier when you ask us to place cover with them, and not for any other purpose.

Request a quote

Tell us what you need covered.

Send a few details and we will come back by email with options and the questions we still need answered.

  • A quote request is not an application, and nothing is bound.
  • Already insured? Send your renewal notice and we will read it with you.
  • Not sure which coverage you need? Choose "Not sure yet" below.

We reply by email only, and use your details solely to prepare the quote you asked for.
